NURS 4299 Population Health Nursing Clinical
This clinical course provides opportunities for students to apply population health principles in community and public health settings. Students use clinical judgment and population-focused reasoning to assess community needs, identify at-risk populations, and implement interventions that promote health and prevent disease, considering the impact of non-medical drivers of health on outcomes.
Emphasis is placed on health promotion, risk reduction, and management of population health concerns through community-based care. Students participate in activities such as screening, education, outreach, and resource coordination, while evaluating outcomes and identifying opportunities for improvement.
Students demonstrate collaboration, cultural humility, and professional accountability while working with individuals, families, communities, and interprofessional partners. The course fosters the development of advocacy, leadership, and systems thinking in addressing population health needs and improving health outcomes.
