NURS 4296 Leadership and Management in Nursing

This course focuses on the principles of leadership, management, and systems-based practice in nursing, emphasizing the integration of clinical judgment, evidence-based practice, and patient-centered care within complex healthcare environments. Students examine concepts related to quality improvement, safety, resource management, cost-effective care, and organizational systems that influence patient outcomes.

Emphasis is placed on the application of leadership and management principles to prioritization, delegation, coordination of care, and decision-making. Students analyze healthcare systems, identify opportunities for improvement, and apply clinical reasoning to support safe, efficient, high-quality, and cost-effective care delivery.

The course addresses ethical, legal, and regulatory considerations, as well as the role of the nurse as a leader, advocate, and member of the interprofessional team.
