SOWK 6320 Social Welfare Programs and Policies
Students will critically examine the US social welfare system, programs and policies affecting social, economic and political problems focusing on oppressed and marginalized people. The profession of social work's response and efforts to ameliorate social welfare problems through policy development and macro practice methods will be critically analyzed. Students will be introduced to policy analysis tools and how policy influences practice and the role of social workers to influence social welfare policy and programs.
