Competencies
Upon completion of the Political Science program, graduates will be able to:
- Political Research Design and Evaluation
Develop, design, and evaluate research questions relevant to the study of politics and governance.
- American Politics Knowledge and Analysis
Demonstrate proficiency in the knowledge, concepts, and analytical techniques associated with American politics.
- International Relations and Comparative Politics
Demonstrate proficiency in the knowledge, concepts, and analytical techniques associated with international relations and comparative governments.
Degree Requirements
The minimum total credits required for a B.A. in Political Science is 120.
- Read the U. T. Permian Basin catalog and be familiar with the University's requirements for the BA degree. It is the student's responsibility to read the catalog and be familiar with and fulfill all the requirements for the BA degree.
- Complete at least 120 semester credit hours for the BA degree.
- At least 48 credits must be at the junior or senior level. At least 30 of these must be completed at U. T. Permian Basin.
- Obtain at least a "C" grade in all Political Science courses. Maintain at least a grade point average of 2.0 in all courses applicable toward the BA degree.

All Political Science majors must demonstrate a basic use of computing through the completion of PLSC 3301 and PLSC 3302.
Major Requirements
A major in Political Science requires 36 sch in Political Science including 12 sch of required courses, and at least 24 sch of additional upper-level PLSC courses.
