Competencies
Upon completion of the Finance program, students will be able to:
- Corporate Finance
Apply the theories and practices of corporate financial management to support investment, financing, and dividend decisions.
- Quantitative Analysis
Apply statistical, algebraic, and financial (time-value of money) methods to analyze data and interpret results for business decision-making.
- Written Communication
Produce clear, concise, and professional business documents using appropriate grammar, vocabulary, and formatting.
- Oral Communication
Deliver clear, concise, and professional oral presentations using appropriate visual aids and effective presentation techniques.
- Technology
Apply contemporary business technologies and information systems to analyze business problems while adhering to data privacy, security, and confidentiality standards.
- Integrated Business Knowledge
Integrate knowledge across business disciplines to analyze organizations, apply strategic frameworks, and develop comprehensive business solutions.
Degree Requirements
- The minimum total credits required for a BBA degree is 120.
- At least 30 hours of upper-level courses must be completed at UTPB
- The minimum number of upper-level credit hours is 54.
- At least 50 percent of the upper-level business core must be taken from an AACSB-accredited program (12 sch).
- The College of Business requires a GPA of 2.25 in the following lower-level courses: COMM 1315, ENGL 1301, ENGL 1302, MATH 1314, ACCT 2301, ACCT 2302, BUSI 1301, BUSI 2342, BUSI 2345, and ECON 2302 or any course used as an approved substitute for any of those courses.
- Student much achieve a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 in all upper-level business core courses, the capstone course, and all business elective courses.
- Students must receive a "C" or better in all required major courses including options and major electives.
