Human Performance, BS

Competencies

Upon completion of the Human Performance program, students will be able to:

  1. Holistic Health and Well‑Being Assessment
    Assess the overall well‑being of diverse populations using holistic, integrative evaluation and assessment methodologies.
  2. Professional Communication and Health Literacy
    Engage effectively with diverse populations of active individuals and communicate health and human performance information to promote health and wellness literacy.
  3. Human Movement Analysis and Performance Enhancement
    Evaluate and assess human movement using functional analysis and technology to support injury prevention, enhance performance, and develop client‑appropriate exercise programs.
  4. Health Promotion Across the Lifespan
    Promote health‑conscious behaviors and physical activity participation across the lifespan.
  5. Exercise Prescription for Diverse Populations
    Design exercise prescription programs for healthy individuals and special populations in accordance with CoAES standards and guidelines for Bachelor of Science degrees.
  6. Foundational Knowledge of Exercise Science
    Demonstrate foundational knowledge of health and fitness assessment, exercise testing, training methods, and exercise prescription as outlined in CoAES standards and guidelines for B.S. degrees.
  7. Health and Fitness Measurement and Testing
    Test and/or estimate key measurements and indicators of health and fitness consistent with CoAES standards and professional best practices.

Degree Requirements

  1. Read the UT Permian Basin catalog and be familiar with the University's requirements for the BS degree. It is the student's responsibility to read the catalog and be familiar with and fulfill all the requirements for the B.S. degree.
  2. Complete at least 120 semester credit hours for the B.S. degree.
  3. At least 48 credits must be at the junior or senior level. At least 30 of these hours must be completed at UT Permian Basin.
  4. Students majoring in Human Performance are required to complete an academic minor.
  5. Obtain at least a "C" grade in all Human Performance courses. Maintain a "C" grade in all Minor and Prerequisite courses applicable toward the degree in Human Performance.
