Computer Engineering, BS

Competencies

Upon successful completion of Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering program, graduates will have:

  1. Engineering Problem Solving
    Identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics. 
  2. Engineering Design
    Apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors. 
  3. Effective Professional Communication
    Communicate effectively with a range of audiences. 
  4. Ethical and Professional Responsibility
    Recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgments, which must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts. 
  5. Effective Teamwork
    Function effectively on a team whose members together provide leadership, create a collaborative environment, establish goals, plan task, and meet objectives. 
  6. Use of Engineering Judgement
    Develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions. 
  7. Apply New Knowledge
    Acquire and apply new knowledge as needed, using appropriate learning strategies. 

Degree Requirements

Consistent with the existing Bachelor of Science (BS) degree programs in engineering, a minimum of 126 semester credit hours is required for the BS degree in Computer Engineering. This degree requires a minimum of 50 upper-division hours. Since all students seeking a BS degree in Computer Engineering are required to take a cross-section of courses from a variety of engineering disciplines, the College does not award double majors. Students desiring a double major should seek a second baccalaureate degree. Minors are not required of students seeking a BS degree in Computer Engineering.
