Student Employment Opportunities

UT Permian Basin offers several employment options to help students earn income while gaining valuable work experience. Opportunities are available both on and off campus and may be need-based or non-need-based.


Federal Work-Study Program

The Federal Work-Study (FWS) Program provides part-time, on-campus employment for students with demonstrated financial need, as determined by the FAFSA. Positions are available in a variety of departments, including:

  • Academic offices
  • Library services
  • Student services
  • Administrative and support areas

Key Details:

  • Open to both undergraduate and graduate students
  • Students may work up to 19.5 hours per week
  • Pay is based on a sliding scale, but no student earns less than minimum wage
  • Award amounts determine the number of hours a student may work

Regular Student Employment

In addition to work-study, Regular Student Employment opportunities may be available through individual University departments. These positions:

  • Are not based on financial need
  • Are part-time and flexible around class schedules
  • Require students to apply through the Office of Career Services
  • Are limited to 19 hours per week

Off-Campus Employment

Students may also explore off-campus job opportunities through listings provided by the Career Services Office. These positions are not affiliated with the University but are made available to help students connect with local employers.
