Application Process
Applying for Financial Aid
UT Permian Basin encourages all students—both undergraduate and graduate—who are seeking financial assistance to complete the current year’s financial aid application packet. This packet includes two key components:
- Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
Apply at studentaid.gov
Required for all need-based aid programs, including:
- Federal Title IV grants and loans
- Federal Work-Study
- State grants, loans, and work-study programs
- Some local scholarships
- UT Permian Basin General Financial Aid Application
Used to determine eligibility for University-administered aid programs, regardless of financial need.
To be considered for all available aid, students are strongly encouraged to complete both the FAFSA and the UTPB application.
Priority Deadlines and Processing
Because funding is limited in many aid programs, students should submit their applications as early as possible each year.
- Priority Deadline: May 1
Applications received by this date will receive priority consideration.
- After May 1: Applications will be reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis, depending on remaining funds.
Applications are not considered complete until all required forms and documentation are submitted to the Office of Student Financial Aid. In some cases, students may be selected for verification and must provide additional documentation before aid eligibility can be determined.
Additional Requirements
- Students subject to Selective Service registration must certify that they are registered or exempt in order to be eligible for federal or state financial aid.
- Applying for financial aid is separate from applying for admission. Receiving a financial aid award does not guarantee admission to the University.
Visit UTPB Financial Aid website for more information about the financial aid process and available programs.
