First Year Seminar

First Year Seminar is a required course for all first time, full time freshman who are in their first semester on a college campus. This course serves as an extended orientation for students to become familiar with their campus and the culture of a university. First Year Seminar, which is broken into two parts, (UNIV 1101 and UNIV 1102) is conducted through a generalized model to allow students to learn the basics of how to succeed in college that can apply in any major. Instructors for these seminars make sure students know how to access various support services, how to receive advising and schedule classes, how to make best use of financial aid, and make connections with faculty and peers to support their learning throughout their entire college career.
