Registration Process

Students who have been officially admitted to UT Permian Basin are eligible to register for courses. Registration occurs prior to the start of each academic semester and includes opportunities to:

  • Enroll in courses
  • Make schedule adjustments (add/drop)
  • Pay tuition and fees

Registration dates and deadlines are published in the semester course schedule and are available online at www.utpb.edu.

Students who have not enrolled for more than one year must reapply for admission before registering. Once admitted or readmitted, students may proceed with the registration process.

Freshman Registration

Incoming freshmen entering in the fall semester must participate in Freshman Orientation, which includes academic advising and course registration. Orientation dates are provided in advance, and students must complete the admissions process before enrolling.

Important Notes for Freshmen:

  • Students seeking financial aid should contact the Office of Student Financial Aid several months before orientation to ensure timely processing.
  • All entering freshmen must enroll in UNIV 1101 (Freshman Seminar) unless they have completed 24 or more college credit hours prior to enrollment. Requests for exemption may be made during orientation or prior to registration.

Transfer and Returning Students

Transfer students and students returning after an absence of one year or more may register during the regular registration period only after being admitted or readmitted. This period allows time for:

  • Academic advising
  • Course selection
  • Tuition and fee payment

Students applying for financial aid must meet the priority deadlines to avoid delays in disbursement. Registration dates are listed in the academic calendar.

Online Registration

Students may register online through the UTPB student portal at my.utpb.edu. To be eligible for online registration, students must:

  • Meet Texas Success Initiative (TSI) requirements
  • Claim their student ID number
  • Receive academic advising clearance
  • Resolve any holds or restrictions on their account

Through the portal, students can also:

  • View and print class schedules
  • Access grade reports and unofficial transcripts
  • Review billing and financial aid status
  • Track transfer credit evaluations
