Refund of Tuition

Course Drops

  • A drop is defined as removing one or more courses while remaining enrolled in at least one other course.
  • 100% tuition refund is granted for courses dropped before the academic record is created, typically during the late registration period.
  • No refund is issued for courses dropped after the final drop deadline listed in the academic calendar.

University Withdrawals

  • A withdrawal is defined as dropping all enrolled courses for the semester.
  • Refunds for withdrawals are prorated based on the date of withdrawal and follow a published refund schedule.
  • Students withdrawing before the first class day receive a 100% refund, minus a $15 matriculation fee and other non-refundable fees (e.g., computer processing, advising, orientation).
  • After classes begin, the refund percentage decreases over time. The exact refund amount depends on the withdrawal date and the length of the course (e.g., 8-week, 16-week).
  • Refunds for housing and meal plans are not automatic; students must contact Student Housing to request them.

Important Notes

  • All drops and withdrawals must be initiated by the student through the student portal.
  • Students are strongly encouraged to consult with their academic advisor and financial aid counselor before dropping or withdrawing, as it may impact current and future aid eligibility.
