CIVE 2200 System Design and Professional Practices
A survey course that introduces students to complex problems in designing Civil Engineering Systems, analyze issues in professional ethics and explore professional practices. Students evaluate the characteristics of complex problems using civil relevant engineering grand challenges of the 21st century as a framework to design system, component or process in two or more Civil Engineering contexts.
Incorporate basic concepts of project management, business, public policy, leadership, and principles of sustainability in the design process. The impacts of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and society context are considered to generate optimal solutions. Analyze issues of professional codes of ethics, professional liability, contracts and contract law. Explore the importance and process of professional licensure.
